The office also issues birth abstracts for events that occurred anywhere in Texas from 1926 to the present, as well as death certificates for events that occurred in Tarrant County from 1903 to the present. In addition, the Clerk’s Office provides verification certificates for birth events in Tarrant County from 1876 to the present and for death events from 1903 to the present. Copies of Tarrant County vital records may be ordered through VitalChek on an expedited basis.

Birth Certificate
A certified birth certificate that can typically be used for travel, passport, proof of citizenship, social security, driver's license, school registration, personal identification and other legal purposes. Birth Certificates are available for events that occurred in Tarrant County, except for the following locations:
- Arlington from 1/14/1971 to present
- Grapevine from 8/20/1973 to present
Death Certificate
A certified copy of a death record that can typically be used to obtain death benefits, claim insurance proceeds, notify social security and other legal purposes. Death Certificates are available for events that occurred in Tarrant County, except for the following locations:
- Arlington from 1/14/1971 to present
- Grapevine from 8/20/1973 to present
Birth Abstract
A certified birth abstract that can typically be used for most legal purposes, however it cannot be used to obtain a passport. Birth Abstracts are available for events that occurred anywhere in the State of Texas from 1926 to present.
Marriage Certificate
A certified copy of the marriage certificate. This is not a copy of the marriage license. Marriage records are available for events that occurred in Tarrant County from 1876 to present.
Birth Certificate Verification
A verification of birth that can be used if the requestor is not a qualified applicant but requires proof of birth. Birth verifications are NOT certified birth records.
The requestor will receive a letter on Tarrant County letterhead with a county seal verifying the following information:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Place of Birth
- File Number
- Date Search
Death Certificate Verification
A verification of death that can be used if the requestor is not a qualified applicant but requires proof of death. Death verifications may or may not be used for legal purposes and do NOT contain the cause of death or PPI information.
The requestor will receive a letter on Tarrant County letterhead with a county seal verifying the following information:
- Name
- Date of Death
- Place of Death
- File Number
- Date Search
